(Guthrie Center, IA) — Both AC/GC cross country teams made it to the state tournament last year and their goal has not changed — make the trip to Fort Dodge and get on the deck.
The boys finished 14th in Class 1A last year — they lose their top runner from last year Gavin Sloss but return Junior Preston Kent who finished in 51st place individually last year and says they had about 10 guys get up at 6:30 am several days a week during the summer to get ready for the season
The girls finished 12th in Class 1A last season and lose their leader Ava Campbell — this year’s squad will be a little inexperienced. Junior Cadence Pedersen finished 84th at state last year and will be the number one runner to start
The two seniors are Elizabeth Drake and Chelsea Kopaska — Drake ran last year. Sophomore Lillie Lauzon was on varsity last year. Junior Brooklyn Schafer did run some varsity last year for the Chargers.
AC/GC will be at the Southeast Invite tomorrow with Are-We-Va, East Sac County, Fort Dodge, Greene County, Madrid, Manson NW Webster, Newell Fonda, OABCIG, Panorama, Perry, South Central Calhoun, St. Edmond, West Bend Mallard, West Central Valley, Woodward Academy.
