(Treynor, IA) — One of the biggest games in the area this week is Treynor at Riverside — the Cardinals are ranked #7 in Class 1A and the Bulldogs are ranked #4 in Class A. Treynor is led by Senior Jett Sornson who ran for 1,144 yards last year and 13 TD. Sornson is a speedy, elusive runner who is difficult to tackle says Head Coach Jeff Casey.
At quarterback, Ben Casey last year directed the offense and threw for over 1500 yards and 16 TD with only 4 interceptions but he has graduated. Casey says they have a QB who is chomping at the bit to get in there and that is Ethan Hill
On defense, Casey says they have experience back in the secondary but lot a lot up front and at linebacker — Casey says there are two players that like Hill were biding their time and now have a chance to start
Treynor is in Class 1A District 8 this year with Underwood, Tri Center, Red Oak, Shenandoah and Missouri Valley. Casey says its a tough district and he also says that there is some really good football teams in the area and the talent in Southwest Iowa is at an all time high
Treynor went 8-2 last season and face Riverside Friday night in Oakland.
