(Sidney, IA) — The High School football season begins tonight and in an 8 Man contest Exira EHK will visit Sidney in a Non District match up.
The Spartans are coming off a 3-6 season but Head Coach Drew Buckholdt switched quarterbacks early in the season, moving Josten Kilworth to tight end and Bryce Brabham became the starter. The Junior responded leading Exira EHK in rushing with 1,168 yards. Brabham has now had an entire off-season knowing he was going to play QB and Buckholdt says he has improved
Buckholdt says that Kilworth will not stay at Tight End all the time, he will move around the field. Buckholdt will also expect Kilworth to lead the defense after the graduation of Alex Hansen
Sidney has a new Head Coach this season after a 4-5 season. Kyle Wallace was the offensive coordinator at Shenandoah the last two seasons and this is his first head coaching position. The Cowboys lost their top offensive player Michael Hensley who was the quarterback and leading rusher. Wallace will turn to a freshman Evan Laumann to lead the offense
The Cowboys best player is Senior Aiden Stenzel who starts at receiver and defensive back and was unanimously voted team captain. Wallace expects Exira EHK to give his team a challenge
Exira EHK visits Sidney, Pre Game at 6:30, Kickoff 7 pm, coverage on 96.5 FM KSOM and Western Iowa Today TV.
