(Lewis) – Tags for the upcoming deer season went on sale August 15, with hunters seeing a new option available this year for disabled veterans.
John Lorenzen from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Office in Lewis says the new disabled veteran’s deer tag is unique in that it is valid for any established firearms season. That means the tag holder may use it throughout any of those seasons, as long as they follow the method of take required for the specific season. To qualify, hunters must have a service-connected disability.
This tag differs from others by offering more flexibility, allowing qualified veterans to hunt across multiple firearms seasons instead of being limited to a single one.
John Lorenzen will discuss the new tag, and the four hunting seasons that are about to begin, on the DNR Report this Saturday at 7:30 a.m. on 96.5 FM, KSOM. Lorenzen will also provide an update on renovations underway at Cold Springs.
