(Ames, IA) — The Iowa St. football team will leave for Dublin, Ireland tomorrow and yesterday the Cyclones released their 2025 depth chart. There are not clear cut starters at the wide receiver positions going into this Saturday’s opener. With Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel both gone to the NFL, the competition at receiver in pre-season has been fierce. At the F receiver, Senior Eli Green or Junior Gabe Burkle could start; at the X receiver Redshirt Freshman Dominic Overby or Junior Chase Sowell could start; at the Z receiver spot its Sophomore Brent Eskildsen or Junior Carson Brown. That’s 6 different guys at three spots. Even Tight End is not clear with Juniors Ben Brahmer or Gabe Burkle listed as starters.
ISU Quarterback Rocco Becht says its actually kind of exciting to see who will emerge as his primary targets in the passing game
Last season, Becht was third in the Big 12 in passing yards leading Iowa St. to their best season ever at 11-3. Becht expects the expectations to be just as high this year
Also on the depth chart, Harlan Alum Will McLaughlin is listed as co-starter at a linebacker spot with Carson Willich. Iowa St. opens up against Kansas St. this Saturday, kickoff at 11 am on KSOM.
