(Undated) — A former Iowa Hawkeye standout and five-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman is calling it a career.
Veteran guard Brandon Scherff, a Denison, Iowa native, has announced his retirement from the NFL following a 10-year career. Scherff was selected with the fifth-overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft by Washington and played the first seven seasons of his career with the franchise. He then spent the past three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Scherff appeared in 144 games during his career and started every game. The 33-year-old is set to be inducted into Iowa’s 2025 Hall of Fame class later the month.
