(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors is moving forward with plans to hire an Interim Engineer through an agreement with a neighboring county.
The 90-day contract is pending approval by the Mills County Board of Supervisors.
The move comes after months of transition within the county’s engineer’s office. On May 27, the board terminated its contract with County Engineer John Rasmussen and placed him on administrative leave. Assistant Engineer Brandon Burmeister was appointed Interim Engineer at that time but he left the position on August 5.
In the meantime, the county has been working toward filling the position permanently. On July 29, the supervisors voted 3-2 to extend an offer to one of the candidates interviewed for the role, but it is unknown where that offer stands at this time.
The Supervisors also approved establishing a hiring committee for the Human Resource Director position and approved the addendum to the resignation acceptance and release agreement for Jana Lemrick.
