Friday, August 15 – Alumni Banquet
The weekend begins Friday evening at the Cass County Community Center with the Atlantic High School Alumni Banquet. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with a catered meal, remarks, and social time planned for the evening. Tickets are $35 per person, and all AHS alumni are welcome. Saturday, August 16 – Smackdown Golf Tournament
The annual golf tournament begins Saturday morning with check-in from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. at Atlantic Golf & Country Club and at Nishna Hills Golf Course. The four-person scramble costs $200 per team. Golf carts can be reserved in advance for an additional $75, with a reservation deadline of August 8.
Organizers anticipate another strong turnout, and the event helps support class reunion efforts and alumni engagement projects. Kevin Ferguson, chair of the Smackdown Committee, is available for questions at 712‑249‑1886.
Saturday Evening – Smackdown After Dark
Sunnyside Park will host a free concert Saturday evening featuring the band Galivant at the bandshell. The concert is open to the public, providing a relaxed setting for alumni and area residents to spend time together following the golf tournament.
Strengthening Alumni Connections
This year’s event also marks a shift toward more coordinated alumni outreach. A local task force is working to build a centralized contact list, introduce new storytelling efforts including a podcast series, and increase collaboration between alumni and the community. The Smackdown Weekend, now in its twelfth year, will officially operate under the Atlantic Alumni Association going forward.
