(Shenandoah) The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle accident with injuries Thursday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and U.S. Highway 59 in Shenandoah.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:39 p.m. following reports of a collision. According to the investigation, a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Wendi L. Castillo of Omaha, Nebraska, was traveling westbound on Highway 2 when it failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection. The Hyundai entered the path of a northbound 2016 Ram 1500 pickup truck, driven by Fra’ol Z. Wordoffa of Antioch, Tennessee.
Castillo told deputies she believed the intersection was a four-way stop.
Castillo and a passenger in the Hyundai sustained injuries and were transported by Shenandoah Rescue for medical evaluation. Wordoffa reported no injuries.
Shenandoah Fire and Rescue, the Shenandoah Police Department, the Page County Sheriff’s Office, and Song Dog Towing also assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.
