(Harlan, IA) — Atlantic will hit the road tonight for a Class 3A first round baseball playoff game and Harlan will be waiting, coverage on KS 95.7 FM.
The Trojans went 1-10 in their first 11 games which included two close losses to the Cyclones 11-8 and 4-3 but Atlantic is 8-5 in their last 13 games. Head Coach Nathan Block says they are now believing they can win games which is a complete 180 from the start of the season
The leader of the line up has been Junior Kale Jensen who is hitting .444 with 12 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs and 26 RBI
Both coaches are keeping their starting pitchers close to the vest but the likely starter for Atlantic will be Junior Jack Muller who is 1-3 with a 1.73 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 36 innings. Harlan does not have a clear #1 pitcher and could use Freshman Gavin Sisson, Sophomore Gavin Eck, Junior Jonas Reynolds or Senior Weston Reisz. Either way, Block says his team will have to be ready
Harlan Head Coach Heath Stein says this is not a typical two versus seven seed game. Harlan is the 2 seed and Atlantic is the 7 seed
Atlantic is 9-15, Harlan is 23-11, game time is 8pm, pre game at 7:30 on KS 95.7 FM, audio only at westerniowatoday.com
