(Shelby Co) The Shelby County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution in support of Grandma B’s Dream Playground, a proposed inclusive play space designed to serve children of all abilities.
According to the meeting minutes, Gervas Mgonja, speaking on behalf of the Grandma B’s Dream Playground Committee, appeared before the board to request the county’s support for a Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) Grant application. The request included potential in-kind contributions, site preparation, or other forms of assistance to help move the project forward.
Following a brief discussion, Resolution No. 2025-20 was adopted by the board.
The resolution formally expresses Shelby County’s support for the initiative, recognizing the project as a valuable addition to the county’s park system. It states that the inclusive playground will promote physical activity, social engagement, and community pride while providing a safe, accessible space for children and families.
In addition to committing to possible in-kind and logistical support as resources allow, the board encouraged local residents, businesses, and organizations to contribute to the effort through donations, volunteering, and advocacy.
