(Audubon, IA) — Everything is now official, Audubon will be joining the Rolling Valley Conference beginning in the 2027-2028 school year. The school will begin the transition out of the Western Iowa Conference to the RVC. Athletic Director Sean Birks says the delay is so the school has time to adjust their sports teams schedules
The Rolling Valley Conference will now have Ar-We-Va, Audubon, Boyer Valley, CAM, Coon Rapids Bayard, Exira EHK, Glidden Ralston, Paton Churdan, and Woodbine plus IKM Manning will decide next week whether or not to join the conference. Audubon will go from the smallest school in the Western Iowa to the 2nd biggest school in the Rolling Valley but Birks says that doesn’t mean that the Wheelers are gonna go in the RVC and dominate the conference right away
Another thing that Audubon will be able to do in the RVC is enhance its rivalries with close schools that it may only see once a year — Birks says in the WIC, Audubon does not really have a true number one rival
With Audubon leaving and IKM Manning probably going as well, the Western Iowa Conference is down to seven members: AHSTW, Logan Magnolia, Missouri Valley, Riverside, Treynor, Tri Center, and Underwood. The WIC has sent out invitations to ten different schools and given them a deadline of August 1 to consider or reject their offer. Those schools are AC/GC, Earlham, MVAOCOU, Nodaway Valley, Panorama, Red Oak, Shenandoah, Southwest Valley, West Central Valley and Westwood.
