(Atlantic) The Atlantic Chamber Ambassadors were hosted by McDermott Roofing on Thursday, April 17th, 2025, to celebrate new ownership with a ribbon cutting.
McDermott & Son Roofing, founded by Ted McDermott in 1935, began as a small roofing company born out of Ted’s own struggles to find reliable roofers for his construction projects. Over time, the company grew, with Ted mopping hot asphalt and burlap for roofs before expanding into commercial roofing. After serving in WWII, Ted’s stepson, Dwane “Shorty” Bramer, took over the company in 1952, pioneering the use of Acrylic Coatings and Foam Systems. In 1985, Shorty’s son Denny Bramer purchased the company and shifted towards more durable roofing solutions like EPDM (Rubber). Following Denny’s untimely passing in 2004, his stepson Rob Clausen, the fourth generation, took charge, introducing Duro-Last® roofing in 1996. In January 2025, Rob’s daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Chris Schroder, became the fifth generation to lead the company, rebranding it as McDermott Roofing and continuing its legacy.
McDermott Roofing prides themselves on providing excellent service in southwest Iowa for over 90 years. McDermott Roofing is an award-winning dealer for Duro-Last® roofing systems and specializes in commercial and residential flat roofing.
