Thomas Leto, 55, of Des Moines (formerly of Greenfield)
Mass of Christian Burial: Will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Greenfield with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at The Gathering Place in Greenfield following the burial, which will be one of Tom’s favorite meals. Father Phillip Bempong will officiate the service. Thomas Anthony Leto was born on July 23, 1969. Thomas was immediately adopted through Catholic Charities of Iowa, to Raymond Angelo and Rae Louise (Atkinson) Leto of Greenfield Iowa. Thomas passed away on March 13, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the Catholic Charities Food Bank, bringing his circle of life to a close.
Thomas grew up in Greenfield, Iowa and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1987. He then attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in business. He later furthered his education at Drake University, earning a master’s degree in business.
Thomas spent many years working as District Manager for Penske and Ruan. He was located in various places across the nation. Most recently, Thomas worked as Program Manager for Catholic Charities Food Pantry. Thomas loved his work with Catholic Charities and working with the needy.
Thomas enjoyed being with his friends on the weekends, gardening and playing with his pug Charlie, he really enjoyed riding his Harley around the country with many of his very close friends ie brothers in arms and hanging out with his family and loved ones etc..
Thomas loved his nieces and nephew, and great nieces and nephew. Thomas was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, attending games with friends and his great niece, Payton Martin. Thomas also loved motorcycles.
Thomas is survived by his only brother, Joe (Linnea) Leto of Parkersburg; his nieces and nephew, April Leto of Norwalk, Iowa; Kelsey Leto of Des Moines, Iowa; Joey Leto of Parkersburg Iowa; and Shelby Leto of Parkersburg, Iowa. He had great nieces and nephew; Payton Martin, Pearl Martin and Jagger Martin. He is also survived by Uncle Bob (Randy) Leto of Tucson, AZ; and cousins Susie Tjaden of Melcher Dallas, Iowa and Theresa Sullivan of Des Moines, Iowa.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rae Leto.
