(Audubon, IA) –Audubon High School has one of the premier football facilities for small schools in the state of Iowa and recently they got an award to prove it. Audubon was one of two Iowa schools selected for the 2024 Fields of Excellence Award, given by Pioneer Athletics, a sports turf manufacturing company. The award is given to to schools with exceptional fields and workers who maintain the grounds. Dan Stetzel is retired from Audubon and has been working on the Audubon football field for 40 years

Stetzel says he had to go through a long application process to show the extent of the work they do on the field
Stetzel is currently retired after owning a body shop in town and selling insurance. He gets no money for his work. East Sac County was the only other Iowa school to be recognized by Pioneer Athletics.
