(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC will take on Remsen St. Mary’s in a 1A Substate Final tomorrow night with a berth in the state tournament on the line, coverage on KS 95.7 FM.
In the district finals, the Chargers beat IKM Manning 83-56. Head Coach Lance Kading called the first half the best his team has played all season. AC/GC started the game on a 17-1 run. It seemed like they couldn’t miss either, either 58 percent from the field and 9-18 from three point land. Junior Joe Crawford had four threes in the first half to lead the way. But it wasn’t just the threes — every time the Chargers drove the lane, they would either get baskets or get fouled. Crawford says their quickness helps in that area
Overall, AC/GC is 22-2 — the only two losses were to conference rival Madrid — and Tuesday’s win over the Wolves have put the team’s confidence level at very high going into tomorrow’s game against the Hawks says Crawford
Remsen St. Mary’s has a history of playing on the floor at the Wells Fargo Arena — the Hawks made it seven straight times from 2017 to 2023. AC/GC — never. Crawford hopes this team can change that
