(Des Moines) Southwest Iowa Roadways are partially covered with snow this morning.
A few exceptions exist, such as Highway 148 from Highway 92 to Interstate 80, which is completely covered with snow. Highway 25 to Highway 44 is covered thoroughly, and Highway 83 to Highway 148 is covered with snow.
Meanwhile, western Iowa’s Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until 9:00 a.m. today. Frigid temperatures of 20-to-30 below zero are forecast for central, north-central, northeast, northwest, south-central, southwest, and west-central Iowa.
The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
