New Yorkers are being told to remain vigilant amid Africa’s Mpox outbreak which has killed more than 500 people and sickened 17-thousand others. The warning comes from the New York State Health Department after the W-H-O declared a global emergency due to Mpox, the second declaration in two years. This one involves a variant of what used to be called Monkeypox, a virus labeled Clade One Mpox. No cases reported so far in the U.S. People at high risk, including newborns, pregnant women, people who are immuno-compromised and gay men, are being urged to get vaccinated.
