(Atlantic) Zoey Kirchhoff belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning, and Atlantic held off Glenwood 2-1 in a Hawkeye Conference Softball game at Atlantic on Wednesday night. The Rams scored their lone run in the top of the sixth inning.
Riley Wood picked up the win in the circle for the Trojans, pushing her record to 13-7. Atlantic Head Coach Terry Hinzmann praised Wood for her performance in the circle.
Kirchhoff’s homerun is her seventh of the season. Coach Hinzmann pointed toward the Trojans’ defensive effort, particularly Kirchhoff’s effort at shortstop.
The Trojans extended their record to 24-12 on the season and 14-4 in the Hawkeye Ten Conference. Atlantic closes the regular season at Red Oak for a doubleheader on Monday starting at 10:00 a.m. They open regional play on Thursday at home against Red Oak on July 11 with a 7:00 p.m. start. We will have the game on 95.7 F.M. The pre-game show starts at 6:30 p.m.
