Under Amato’s guidance, Nebraska’s bar squad finished the 2024 season ranked No. 20 nationally, with scores exceeding 49.000 in 12 meets. Highlights included a season-high 49.425 at Maryland and in a quad meet against UNC, SEMO, and ISU, with four athletes achieving career highs on bars. “I’m grateful to Heather, the administration, and our team,” Amato said. “I look forward to continuing to contribute to our vision of where the program is going and our continued success through the process.”
In 2024, Nebraska scored 197.000 or higher in three consecutive meets, achieving a total of 197.375 at Arkansas, the 10th-highest away score in program history. Amato also helped the team secure its highest season debut score since 2014 at Iowa State and its highest home debut score since 2012 against Illinois. During Amato’s tenure, Nebraska gymnasts have earned nine Big Ten conference team honors, qualified for the NCAA Championships’ second round for two consecutive years, and improved 15 spots in the final NCAA rankings from 2021 to 2024.
Prior to Nebraska, Amato helped Oregon State achieve a sixth-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Championships.
