(Iowa City, IA) – Iowa Hawkeye women’s basketball newcomer, Lucy Olsen, has been named to the 2024 USA 3×3 Leagues team. She is set to compete in Mexico City at the FIBA 3×3 Nations League between July 22nd and 28th.
Olsen was one of the top three players in the country in scoring, sitting behind both Caitlin Clark and JuJu Watkins in scoring in the NCAA. She averaged 23.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game this past season for Villanova. The guard also was named the most improved player in the Big East Conference and was named to first-team All-Big East.
Olsen formally competed in April alongside Christina Dalce (Maryland), Morgan Maly (Creighton), Cotie McMahon (Ohio State), and Serah Williams (Wisconsin). For the first time, the FIBA 3×3 Nations League will be a qualification route to the FIBA 3×3 World Cup. Nations League winners will then participate in the finals in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The Americas Conference has a total of six three-game tournaments in seven days where six team members can substitute as needed.
The 3×3 League is played on a half-court with a ten-minute game clock and a twelve-second shot clock. Whoever scores 21 points first with one-pointer and two-pointers is victorious or whoever is able to hold the other team to limited numbers on the court.
