(Greenfield,) A new health clinic is open inside the Greenfield Elementary School. The Adair County Health System hospital is closing for 90 days after the May 21st tornado caused major damage to the roof and internal areas. There is a walk-in rural health clinic and primary care in the elementary school. It’s open Monday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
On May 21, an EF4 Tornado swept through Greenfield killing four people, and injuring 35 others.
Meanwhile, A local church in Greenfield is currently working to return lost items that local residents lost in the May 21st tornado.
Andrea McNesse has been organizing a lost and found room at the Greenfield United Methodist Church to return items to residents, some items that were blown almost 100 miles away by the tornado. They have multiple items waiting to be claimed, including baseball gloves, wedding photos, and baby photos among many of the items that individuals may have lost in the storm.
Residents across the state of Iowa ranging from Ames to Alden have been sending in the lost items with letters of encouragement that they find their owners. The church plans to stay open until all items are found and are returned to their rightful owners.
