(Audubon, IA) – The Audubon Wheelers girl’s tennis season is coming up quickly. The girls have been working hard this week in some of their challenge matches to prepare for Friday’s meet. Unfortunately for the Wheelers, some of the girls will be missing opening day which will give the younger athletes a chance at the court.
Audubon returns their two team leaders Ava Slater and Geralyn Anderson who look to be the top players for the Wheelers. This team also features Grace Zaiger, Rachel Rynearson, and Briley Belnap who are all already stepping up. Samantha Warnicka also returns to the team after playing as a dual-sports athlete last season as Head Coach McKenzie Nissen expects her to take off.
The expectations this season for the returnees are to get into some quicker play on the court and be more aggressive with the ball. For the new players, Coach Nissen is just expecting them to go out and pick up on the game and give it their all.
This group of girls is one of the best groups that Coach Nissen could ask for. They are always going out and working hard as a collective unit even as a combination of Audubon, Exira-EHK, and IKM-Manning.
Looking ahead for Audubon, the Wheelers will be opening up their season this Friday, April 5th at Dallas-Center Grimes. They’ll face off against both the Mustangs and the Ballard Bombers which helps prepare the girls against some of the bigger school talent so they can prepare to get into their scheduled season events.
Audubon travels to Dallas-Center Grimes on Friday for a start at 1:00 p.m. You’ll be able to find all of those final results right on Western Iowa Today.
