(Atlantic) Atlantic travels to Cherokee, Washington, for a Class 3A Regional semi-final tonight. The 9-13 Trojans advanced with a 49-38 win over Southeast Valley on Saturday. Cherokee, Washington, 14-7, eliminated Greene County 75-29.
The Trojans rallied from a 17-7 deficit in the first quarter to advance to the regional semifinals. Head Coach Dan Vargason says it came down to executing the game plan and doing a much better job taking care of the basketball.
The Braves are led by 6’1 freshman post player 5’8 freshman Addy Wolfswinkel, averaging 15.3 points per game, and freshman post-player Deidra Doeden, averaging 8.4 points per game.
Addy Wolfswinkel leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field. Coach Vargason says Wolfswinkel can shoot the three ball with 23 beyond the arc.
The Trojans can score inside and out. Junior Post Player Paytn Harter leads the team with 16.4 points per game and 11.3 rebounds per outing. Sophomore guard Makenna Schroeder averages 5.2 points per game and 14 three-point shots.
Maddie Richter leads the team by shooting three-point shots with 28. Coach Vargason says this in a nutshell.
The winner of the Atlantic-Cherokee, Washington, Washington game plays the winner of Harlan and Clarinda in a Class 3A Regional Final on Saturday, February 17.
