(Anita, IA) – The little things are leading the CAM Cougars in the right direction as they head into regional action. Head Coach Ian Hunt has been proud of how his boys have controlled the second half of the season, especially when it came to hauling in the rebounds and controlling the basketball.
One aspect to pull from this CAM Cougars team is their balanced scoring down the line. It comes down to where they have three players averaging just around the same mark in double-digits. Chase Jahde is leading the team in scoring average with 13.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season. Behind him is Collin Bower who is averaging a double-double with 13.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game while Ryan Bower is averaging a perfect 13 points per game this season.
CAM has not won a first-round regional game since the 2020-21 season when they beat Fremont-Mills. For a successful start in tonight’s game against Glidden-Ralston, the Cougars need to rely on their impactful defense which is allowing 56.6 points per game this season and just 52.2 points per game in their last six games of the regular season.
The Wildcats are led this season in scoring by Jonathan Bergmeier with 15.4 points per game and is shooting over 80% from the charity stripe. He’s an effective player that is hard to stop when he gets hot on the hardwood.
With the last matchup, CAM was led by Chase Spieker with 18 points while Jahde hit the 16-point mark against the Wildcats. For Glidden-Ralston, Bergmeier knocked down 17 points and swiped away two steals while Colby Wallace had down 14 and Charles Schon earned 10. CAM has started to control the rebounding game in the second half of the season with 34.6 rebounds per game which likely will help in tonight’s game against Glidden-Ralston.
CAM will host tonight’s regional matchup against Glidden-Ralston, with an opening tipoff at 7:00 p.m. KSOM 96.5 will be live for the broadcast with Zach Collins on the call with the pregame show at 6:40 p.m.
