
(Evanston, IL) – A record has been broken on the road in Iowa’s 110-74 victory over Northwestern as Caitlin Clark is now the Big Ten All-Time leading scorer and is second on the NCAA’s all-time scoring list, passing Missouri State’s Jackie Stiles and Kelsey Mitchell of Ohio State.
Looking into the game, Caitlin Clark knocked down 35 points, dished out 10 assists, and snagged six boards. The senior also went a perfect 10-10 from the free-throw line. Clark’s performance earned her the 54th double-double in her career and is the only player in the country with 700+ points, 160+ assists, and 150+ rebounds this season. Overall, Clark now has 3,300 points, 900+ assists, and 800+ rebounds in her career. Clark now has 80 consecutive games with a three-point bucket which marks the NCAA best for a player.
Looking down the line on the night for Iowa, Hannah Stuelke had an impressive performance as she put down 17 points and hauled in nine boards, just short of a double-double. Kate Martin was just a point behind her with 16 while she hauled in five boards and dished out four assists. Martin now has scored 15+ points in 10 games this season to notch a career-high. Gabbie Marshall also got in on the double-digit action with 12 points while shooting 4-5 from downtown.
On the opposite end for Northwestern, the Wildcats were led by Melannie Daley with 19 points on the night as she went 8-17 from the hardwood. Behind her was Hailey Waver with 13 points as she shot 75% from the three-point mark. Paige Mott hauled in five boards as she also had double-digits with 10 points on the night. Both Caileigh Walsh and Casey Harter put down nine points each and combined for six rebounds.
This win for Iowa marked the fourth straight win against Northwestern. The Hawkeyes are now 35-4 in their last 39 games of Big Ten action. Head coach Lisa Bluder said after the game, “We came in here and got better. I love 28 assists on five turnovers, four people in double figures. Caitlin becomes the all-time leading Big Ten scorer with this many games to go. I am always really proud of her.”
Iowa won in almost every category on the night in field goal percentage (55.9%), three-point percentage (46.4%), and free-throw percentage (80.8%). The Hawkeyes also outscored Northwestern in the paint 50-24 and on fast break points with a 19-10 advantage.
The Hawkeyes will return to action on Saturday, February 3rd when they battle Maryland starting at 7:00 p.m.
