(Anita, IA) – The CAM Cougars went from having no invitationals or duals to a week full of them. The Cougars saw some success this week with Owen and Brentyn Hoover in the Tuesday dual against Manson Northwest Webster and Greene County. Owen Hoover has even gone 3-0 in his last three matches alongside his brother Brentyn who has gone 2-1 in his last three. Head Coach Derek Knisley has been proud of the brothers for challenging one another as they get better on the mats.
At the John J. Harris Invitational last Saturday, Owen Hoover saw the best finish in his four years of wrestling. The senior beat Jordan Martin-England of Lenox, one wrestler that he had always wanted to beat to lead him to the weight class 175 championship match. He went from not qualifying for the top six in 2023 to being in the championship match and finishing in second place in 2024.
The Cougars have a tough test this upcoming Saturday when they take on local teams Audubon, Missouri Valley, and Perry. With it being the end of the season, it will be all the same mentality for the Cougars.
CAM will travel to Audubon tomorrow for the Audubon Invitational with the first matches at 10:00 a.m.
