(Avoca, IA) – AHSTW went into the break with two crucial wins over both Missouri Valley and Logan-Magnolia while they fell to #12 Treynor before they hit the winter break. The Lady Vikes have had a season of highs and lows so far as they enter the “second season.” Head coach Jason McCall is looking for more out of his girls for offense after the break.
One standout player for AHSTW is Delaney Goshorn. The senior continues to get better even as she is leading in scoring and rebounding with 15.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this season.
While not standout players, both seniors Graycen Partlow and Ella Langer have both been putting in the workload for the Lady Vikes. They’re each averaging over 5.5 points per game this season and have been keys to the success of the AHSTW defense.
When looking at AHSTW in the preseason, one thing that Coach McCall wanted to change on the court was the speed of the offense. This is something that AHSTW has been working on over the last few days after the break so that they can start to implement that into their offensive game plan.
AHSTW is taking on a 6-4 Tri-Center team next Friday, January 5th that sits just beneath the Lady Vikes in the Western Iowa Conference. Rather than focusing on an individual effort, Coach McCall has confidence that any girl on the floor can help them earn the win at the end of the night.
AHSTW hosts Tri-Center next week on Friday, January 5th at 6:00 p.m.
