(Iowa City, IA) – Iowa has had its fair share of award nominations this season ranging from Cooper DeJean to Jay Higgins and even Leshon Williams. But they can add another Hawkeye, Hayden Large to that list as he was named as a finalist for the Lowman Trophy.
While many trophies have to deal with statistics, the Lowman Trophy doesn’t deal with numbers and figures. Rather, the trophy goes to the nation’s best college fullback that is named by the podcast Pardon My Take. Hayden Large has just three receptions for 13 yards this season, nothing that is going to be breaking the charts in FBS football, but he has been an important unit in helping Iowa’s offense. He has primarily played a blocking role for runningback Leshon Williams to help him have one of the most successful seasons for an offensive player on Iowa.
The other finalists are Ben Sinnott of Kansas State, Earnest Crowder of Texas A&M, Max Bredeson and Kalel Mullings of Michigan, Owen Burk of Air Force, Stone Eby of SMU, and Eli Heidenreich of Navy.
The award will be announced on Saturday during the pregame show of the Toledo and Wyoming game which starts at 3:00 p.m.
