(Griswold, IA) – Wrestling at Griswold has started to shift in the right direction this season as the Tigers placed second in the Corner Conference Duals last Thursday as they were coming out successfully on almost every level. Griswold won over Essex, and Tarkio, Missouri in the duals while only losing to Southwest Iowa which is one of the best performances for the Tigers during head coach Bob Amos’s tenure.
One wrestler who has continued to perform well is Nolan Smith. The sophomore wrestled tough in the Corner Conference Duals going 2-1 while finishing fifth in class 126 in the Mustang Invitational on Saturday. While he is new to the sport, he continues to grow, and that pursuit of growth has only helped him see success along the way.
Another new wrestler for Griswold is Holden Jensen who has just jumped into this season and went 3-0 in the Corner Conference Duals and kept things close in the Mustang Invitational. While his inexperience may be his downfall, he is living and breathing wrestling which will only help him to become more experienced in the circle.
Griswold is just looking to correct the little mistakes during their break between now and January. This Tigers team is one of the more successful teams that we have seen in quite some time and with the talent they have on their roster, only expect them to get better.
The Tigers will resume wrestling after the break on January 9th in a quad dual meet against Southwest Iowa, Bedford, and Red Oak which starts at 5:30 p.m.
