(Atlantic) Glenwood raced out to an early lead en route to a 47-6 win over Atlantic in a non-district football game at Atlantic on Friday night.
The Rams scored 28 points in the first quarter and tacked on 19 more in the second stanza for a 47-0 lead at the break. The 35-point rule kicked into effect in the second half. The Trojans score came in the fourth quarter on a Zayden Parker to Colton Rasmusen touchdown pass.
Glenwood scored on four consecutive drives to start the game. Kayden Anderson fired a 14-yard pass to Payton Longmeyer, Longmeyer scampered into the end zone on a 17-yard run, Tristan Meier punched one in from four yards, and Longmeyer caught a 53-yard pass late in the first quarter to put the visitors up 28-0.
The Rams kept the momentum going in the second quarter with three additional scores. Meier scored on a short run, Anderson snuck one in from the one-yard line, and Cole Staudt polished off the first-half scoring rampage with a pick-six and a 47-0 first-half advantage.
The second half flew by with the running clock. The Glenwood starters called it a night midway through the final half, and Atlantic also shuffled in their backups. The Trojans were able to put together a drive early in the fourth quarter, resulting in a 10-yard TD pass from Zayden Parker to Colton Rasmussen. Glenwood special teams blocked the extra point, and the score eventually went final at 47-6.
Kayden Anderson was 10-11 passing for 186 yards, and the Rams added another 98 yards on the ground. Payton Longmeyer caught four passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns, and Jack Johnson made three catches for 62 yards.
Zayden Parker was 10-16 passing for 72 yards. Colton Rasmussen caught two passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. Gavin McLaren led the team in rushing with seven carries for 31 yards.
Atlantic travels to Greene County in a week three matchup. Glenwood travels to Harlan.
