(Des Moines) A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for central Cass County until 11:30 a.m.
The National Weather Service says Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms had produced heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen so far this morning with additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches possible in the warned area over the next few hours. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
As of 7:00 a.m., the rain gauge in downtown Atlantic had 3.25 inches of rain.
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Flash Flood Warning in effect for Northwestern Pottawattamie and Southwestern Harrison counties until 12:30 p.m. The National Weather Service says at 7:27 a.m., doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.
A Flash Flood Warning also remains in effect for Northeastern Pottawattamie County until 10:45 a.m. At 7:25 a.m., between 4 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.
A Flash Flood Warning also remains in effect for Eastern Harrison and West Central Shelby Counties until 10:45 a.m. At 7:24 a.m., between 4 and 8 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.
