(Iowa City) Atlantic Alum and the University of Iowa Track Standout Gratt Reed is heading into his final season of eligibility with high expectations.
Reed is coming off an outstanding junior season with season bests of 13.50 in the 110 Meter Hurdles, a 20.54 clocking in the 200 meters, and a member of the Hawkeyes 4×100 Meter Relay that clocked a school record and NCAA finals qualifying season’s best time of 38.64.
Reed, a two-time all-American, also qualified for the UASTF Outdoor Senior Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, with a qualifying 110 Meter Hurdle time of 13.50, ranked fifth all-time at the University of Iowa.
Reed says during the outdoor season, in every meet, he was healthy; he ran at or below last year’s personal best. Reed credits his sprint coach for his continued improvement.
Gratt sets the bar high yearly; his future goals are no different.
Reed says you accomplish these high goals by trusting the day-to-day process, focusing on what you can control, and taking small steps in the right direction. AND Gratt Reed does not plan to stop competing when his senior season ends.
Gratt Reed excels on the track and in the classroom earning Academic All-Big Ten honors. When he leaves the University of Iowa next fall, he will have a Masters’s Degree in Finance and a degree in Enterprise Leadership.
