(Omaha) The Iowa Hawkeye Baseball team earned its’ fifth Big Ten Championship game appearance on Saturday, with a 5-0 win in the semi-finals over Michigan. The win pushes the Hawk’s record to (42-13), the most wins under Head Coach Rick Heller and the second most in school history. This was Iowa’s sixth shutout of the season, tied for second in the nation. Ty Langenberg tossed a seven-inning two-hitter and nine strike-outs.
Offensively, Raider Tello went 1-for-3 with two RBI, Kyle Huckstorf was 1-for-4 with an RBI triple, and Sam Hojnar and Brennen Dorighi each contributed an RBI.
Iowa plays Maryland, the regular season champion, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Terrapins ousted Nebraska 4-2 in a semifinal on Saturday afternoon,
Iowa’s previous Big Ten Championship appearances were in (1983, 2010, 2016, and 2017).
