Rosemary Ann Kopp was born on a farm north of Massena on June 13, 1933. She was the daughter of Bernard and Rose Beitz and passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa, at the age of 89. Rosemary attended country school north of Bridgewater through the eighth grade and then stayed home to help on the family farm.
On November 3, 1962, she was united in marriage to John Kopp at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Massena and moved to a farm north of Massena. To this union, two sons were born: Douglas and Duane. Rosemary was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church until moving from the farm to Anita in 1991. There she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for the past thirty-plus years.
She was a sports fan and enjoyed watching high school, college, and professional teams. Rosemary was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers and Green Bay Packer fan. Rosemary always said it was only a true world series if the Dodgers and Yankees were playing. You could always find her checking the box scores and seeing who was on the mound for today’s game while enjoying her morning coffee.
Surviving Rosemary are her two sons Doug (Teresa) of Massena, and Duane of Homestead, Florida. Her grandchildren Tyler, Daniel, Alex, and Tommy. Her sister Marge Lund and brother Larry (Karen Beitz), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and brother-in-law (Arlyn Lund).
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anita, IA. A luncheon will be held following the mass in the church basement. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery north of Bridgewater, IA.
Visitation with the family will take place one hour before the mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
