(Anita) CAM will have two wrestlers in the field Wednesday for the State Wrestling Tournament.
Brian South will take to the mat for the Cougars at 160. He’s 38-8 on the season and will meet 35-17 Shayden Washburn, of Alburnett. Coach Derek Knisely says, “I believe that’s going to be a tough match for him, but I believe he will be able to pull out a win.”
CAM also has Owen Hoover in the 170 pound bracket. Hoover is 39-9 and will face 30-5 Regan Witt, of Saint Ansgar. “That’s going to be a little bit more of a challenge for Owen Hoover, but if we keep working on the technique side I think he might surprise people and come out with a win.”
Coach Knisely comments on the way these teammates have helped one another. “These two wrestlers have been with each other for a long time. They have a nice friendship/bond. They do, in the wrestling room, help push each other to get better. I think that’s led to the success they’ve had this season.”
Class 1A action begins at 9:00 Wednesday morning. KSOM and KS95.7 will have updates throughout the day.
