(Adel) It’s a regular season rematch between ADM and North Polk in a Class 3A football quarterfinal in Friday.
The 4th ranked Tigers will be at home against the 8th rated Comets. Here’s ADM coach Garrison Carter. “It starts with blocking, tackling, and taking care of the football. We excelled on all three of those. I say this every week, but we have really talented kids and they make us look good at times. They were certainly firing on all cylinders Friday.”
29-20 was the final in their previous matchup. North Polk led 20-7 at half, but ADM outscored them 7-0 in the 3rd quarter and 15-0 in the 4th. Brevin Doll ran for 181 yards and three scores in that game while Aiden Flora passed for 123 and ran for 117. “We’ve seen them once already this year and it was a phenomenal football game. Were were fortunate to win that one. We were down a couple of scores late in the third quarter. We know we are going to have our hands full. Arguably each of these teams are deserving to be in the UNI-Dome. The fact we are playing in the quarterfinals means it should be a fantastic football game.”
ADM has re-established their program in recent years. They made the playoffs last year for the first time in seven years, but lost in the first round to Nevada.
Coach Carter’s team has been on some kind of a run ever since their lone setback to Harlan they’ve outscored their last three opponents on average 59-1. ”
In their 56-0 first round win over Grinnell they posted 470 yards of offense. The team completed 78.6% of their throws with an average of 19.5 yards per completion. They averaged 12.8 yards per rushing attempt.
Their nine wins this season are the most in a single season since Gavin Glenn’s record setting 2011 season when he threw for over 3,000 yards and they beat Pella in a quarterfinal game.
