(Cass Co) The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has received some questions about the timeliness of the Iowa Permits to Carry Weapons and Iowa Permits to Acquire Weapons being delivered from the state.
The Sheriff’s Office says they have been in contact with the appropriate State Department and has been informed that due to a change in the printing system and current mail times, the receipt of permits via mail has been delayed. Current wait times are estimated between 1 week and up to 4 weeks.
The Sheriff’s Office apologizes for this inconvenience and are doing everything they can on their end to expedite the process.
Permits are good for 5 years from the date of issuance. If you wish to keep your permit(s) active, please check their respective expiration date. Permits can be “renewed” 30 days before or 30 days after their expiration. Any applications made outside of that window are considered “new/initial” permits by the State of Iowa. Renewal permits are $25 and New/Initial permits are $50; State set fees.
