(Atlantic) Atlantic evens its record to (4-4), and (2-2) in District play with a 55-6 win over Saydel at Atlantic on Friday night.
Atlantic quarterback Tristan Hayes threw three touchdown passes and scored two on foot to lead the Trojans offensively. The sophomore completed 6/8 passes for 167 yards. Tanner O’Brien averaged 10.8 yards on 13-carries for 140-yards and a touchdown. Isaac Henson averaged 13-yards per carry and toted the ball eight times for 104 yards.
The sophomore rifled a 45-yard touchdown strike to Colton Rasmussen on the home team’s first possession. The junior wide-out snagged his 12th touchdown catch of the season. Two minutes later, Hayes threw another strike to Carter Pellett for 74-yards, and the Trojans jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Hayes’ 11-yard touchdown carry pushed the score to 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Hayes found the end zone again early in the second quarter, rifled a pass to Jackson McLaren in the end zone, and Trojan tailback Isaac Henson scored from four yards out to give the Trojans a 42-0 lead late at the half. Tanner O’Brien and Korbin Leslie rounded out the scoring with two short runs to put the Trojans up 55-0.
The Eagles found the end zone late in the fourth quarter on backup quarterback Judah Lock’s 12-yard touchdown to Kolton Kellar for the 55-6 final.
The Trojans rolled up 471 yards of offense, 304 rushing, and 167-yards passing. Saydel posted 74 yards of offense, 48-yards passing, and 26-yards rushing.
Atlantic travels to Creston next Friday for a key game in district play. Saydel hosts ADM.
