(Harlan) Glenwood edged Harlan and Atlantic for the Hawkeye Ten Conference Girls Cross Country Crown on Thursday at Harlan. The Rams placing two runners in the top ten, scored 57-points, Harlan finished second with 60, and Atlantic finished third with 61-points.
Lindsey Sonderman (pictured) of Harlan won the individual title; Mayson Hartley of Clarinda finished runner-up; Ava Rush and Claire Pellett, both from Atlantic, finished third and fourth, respectively, and Maria Dea of Kuemper finished fifth.
Lauren Hughes and Brecken Petersen led Glenwood with sixth and seventh-place finishes; Haylee Hughes, and Emerson Griffin, were 14th and 15th, and Riley Nebel rounded out the scoring for the Rams with an 18th-place performance.
Besides Sonderman’s first-place score, Brylee Schechinger and Jenna Gessert finished 11th and 12th, Emily Schechinger, 17th, and Kayla Anderson rounded out the team by scoring in 21st place.
The Trojans ran a solid race as a team. Ava Rush led the way in third overall, Claire Pellett, fourth, Belle Berg, eighth, Mariah Huffman, 24th, and Katrina Williams, scored a 26th-place finish. Faith Altman went 28th, and Hailey Huffman 31st.
