(Council Bluffs) Two men are in custody following a pursuit that reached over 125 miles per hour on westbound Interstate 80 in Pottawattamie County.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper and District #3 Public Resource Officer Ryan Devault identified the suspects as 26-year-old Victory Ogiste, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and 28-year-old Xavier Najee, of Plantation, Florida.
Trooper DeVault tells KSOM/KS95 News an Iowa State Patrol Trooper attempted to stop the 2022 white Ford Explorer for a speeding violation at about 7:08 this (Wednesday) morning on westbound Interstate 80 near the 35-mile marker in Pottawattamie County.
DeVault says the Troopers continued to pursue the vehicle westbound on Interstate 80 through Pottawattamie County. The Ford Explorer weaved in and out of traffic at speeds reaching 120-125 miles per hour, depending on the traffic.
The pursuit ended near the seven-mile marker just past the Highway 6 exit; the suspect vehicle lost control and struck a 2013 GMC Terrain driven by 67-year-old Donald Sorensen of Portsmouth, Iowa.
DeVault says Sorensen was taken by Rescue to the University of Nebraska Medicine to treat non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation. Ogiste, and Najee have outstanding warrants, and additional charges are pending.
The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office, Council Bluffs Police, and Council Bluffs Fire and Rescue assisted the Iowa State Patrol.
