(Audubon) The Audubon Wheelers take on league-leading and undefeated West Harrison in an 8-player District #10 Football game on Friday night.
The Hawkeyes are 5-0 in the district standings and 6-0 overall. The Wheelers enter the contest with a 3-1 league record and 3-4 overall.
Audubon Head Coach Sean Birks says this game is an excellent opportunity for the team.
Birks says West Harrison has a lot of good athletes, and they are a physical bunch.
Coach Birks says West Harrison is a team that has success not only in football but also in a couple of other sports, such as baseball and basketball.
The Wheelers have passed for 491 yards this season and rushed for 1,518. Wheeler quarterback Aaron Olsen leads the rushing attack with 166 carries for 793 yards and 17 touchdowns. Gavin Larsen has 49-tackles to lead the Wheeler’s defense; Manny Beisswenger has 40.5 stops. The Wheelers have forced two turnovers, both fumble recoveries.
Walker Rife is West Harrison’s leading rusher with 92-carries for 746 yards. Hawkeye quarterback Mason McIntosh is 24/60, throwing the ball for 452 yards and eight touchdowns. Sage Evans has 65.5 tackles to lead the defense. West Harrison has forced 23 turnovers this season, 12 fumble recoveries, and 11 interceptions.
The kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Mondamin.
