(Atlantic) Atlantic goes 4-1 and wins the team title in the round-robin tournament format at Tri-Center on Saturday.
The Trojans defeated Tri-Center in the first round 2-0 (21-17, 21-11), topped Westwood 2-0 (21-10, 21-12), and swept IKM/Manning (21-15, 21-14). Lawton-Bronson handed the Trojans their only loss of the day, two sets to one (20-22, 21-15, and 15-11). Atlantic bounced back to beat Red Oak in the final contest, 2-1 (19-21, 21-16, 17-15), avenging an early season loss to their Hawkeye Ten Conference foe.
“We had a great balanced attack at the net today,” said Atlantic Head Coach Michelle Blake. “Our hitters and blockers were on point today. We only missed one serve out of 45 serves in the Tri-Center match; we stayed consistent serving; our passing was good, and we had balanced hitting.”
Ava Rush led the Trojans with 43-digs for the tournament, Lexi Knoelck, 26 kills, Jada Jensen, 24, and Aubrey Guyer, 20.
“We will ride this high into the Winterset match next Thursday for our last home match of the regular season,” said Blake. “We are playing at a high level right now; we are staying hungry and continue to work to get better.”
Atlantic plays Winterset on Thursday and closes the regular season schedule at Saint Albert on October 13.
