(Atlantic) An Atlantic man faces charges after striking a residence with a stolen pickup.
At 2:18 a.m. on Sunday, Cass County Communications dispatched the Atlantic Police Department to a motor vehicle accident at 1612 Oak Street in Atlantic. When officers arrived, they found a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado had struck the house at that address.
During the investigation, Police learned that 28-year-old Nicholas Renner of Atlantic stole the pickup from the 1400 block of Linn Street and subsequently struck the home.
Police took Renner into custody and charged him with OWI and 2nd – degree theft.
Police say the house sustained $50,000 in damage. The pickup received an estimated $10,000 in damage.
Atlantic Police Chief Devin Hogue is not releasing any further information. Anyone with information about the incident may reach an officer at 712-243-3512.
