(Malvern) East Mills carries a 2-1 record into Friday’s non-district game against CAM. The Wolverines topped Woodbine 55-14 in week one, fell to Lenox in Week Two 50-32, and topped Woodbine last week, 55-14.
East Mills Head Coach Kevin Schafer’s ballclub is playing as well as expected, with the only blemish on their record to Lenox. Schafer says his team is small but has good speed, and that’s what they try to use. Schafer says his squad must be prepared for CAM’s multiple formations.
The Wolverines have some weapons of their own, led by Ryan Stortenbecker, averaging 9.8 yards per carry, three touchdowns, and quarterback Zach Thornburg, who can throw and run.
Thornburg is 26-61 for 424 yards and eight touchdowns. The junior’s primary targets are Davis McGrew with nine catches for 191 receiving yards and Davis McGrew with eight grabs for 175 yards.
Coach Schafer says the Cougars have many weapons and are dangerous on offense.
Turnovers are always a factor in a game. The Wolverines have forced 11 turnovers in their first three games, four fumble recoveries, and seven interceptions.
