(Council Bluffs) Lewis Central’s new Head Boys’ Basketball Coach won’t have to familiarize himself with the Hawkeye Ten Conference.
School Officials announced the week the hiring of Ricky Torres, an assistant basketball coach at Denison-Schleswig. Torres takes over for Dan Miller, who recently retired to spend more time with family.
Lewis Central Athletic Director Jim Dermody tells KSOM/KS95 Sports Coach Torres checked all of the boxes of what the district is looking for in a high school basketball coach.
Dermody says Torres rose to the top amongst a long list of qualified applicants.
Denison-Schleswig defeated Lewis Central and Harlan in the postseason before falling to Carroll in the Class 3A Substate Finals this past season.
