(Atlantic) Garrett McLaren and Cruz Weaver led Atlantic to a 159 to 181 victory in a boy’s golf dual over Clarinda on Thursday at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club.
McLaren medaled with a season’s best 36, and Weaver finished runner-up with his best effort, a 37.
“It was great to see Garrett and Cruz have their best rounds. Both started well and kept it up. This was the first time we had light wind and warmer weather, “said Atlantic Head Coach Ed Denbeste.
Lane Nelson shot 41, Tristan Hayes, 45, Cooper Jipsen, 47, and Roth Den Beste, 52.
“Lane had a few struggles,” said Den Beste. “Tristan and Cooper were solid but wanted their scores lower, and Roth had an off day today. He needs to rebound next meet.”
The Atlantic J.V. defeated Clarinda 193-214. Tate Niklasen led the way with a 41, Colton Becker, 45, Trevan Hansen, 53, and Chris Keegan, 54.
“It was great to see Tate shoot so well,” said Coach Den Beste. “He is looking at earning a varsity spot. Colton continued to play solid as well. Traven and Chris wanted to be a little lower but not too bad for the first meet at home. Overall good wins at home for both JV and Varsity.”
