(Pottawattamie Co.) Four people were injured in an accident in Pottawattamie County early this morning.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 1:05 a.m. on I-29 southbound near the 68-mile marker.
A 2019 Dodge Charger was parked on the outside shoulder with emergency lights on assisting with a previous accident. A 2006 Honda Civic, driven by Elizabeth Braun, 29, of Omaha, Nebraska, was heading south, approaching the Dodge Charger when she lost control on the ice-covered road and struck a cable barrier. A 2020 Ford Fusion, driven by Cha’Ron Thompson, 27, of Omaha, Nebraska, was heading south, approaching the Honda Civic that was partially inside the lane. Thompson lost control, struck the rear of the Honda Civic, spun across both lanes and struck the Dodge Charger.
An Iowa State Patrol Trooper, Adrian Long, 30, of Denison, Iowa, was transported to Mercy in Council Bluffs by Law Enforcement. Cha’Ron Thompson and Dallas Thompson, 21, of Omaha, Nebraska, were both transported to UNMC by ground ambulance. Elizabeth Braun was transported to Missouri Valley by ground ambulance.
