(Creston) Atlantic/CAM won nine of 14 matches and defeated Creston, 29-26, in a Regional Dual Final at Creston on Tuesday.
Atlantic/CAM got out the gate with six straight wins. Kadin Stutzman (170) won by a 12-3 major decision over Kaden Street of Creston to put Atlantic/CAM up 4-0. Jarrett Armstrong (182), Brenden Casey (195), Nathan Keiser (220), and Miles Mundorf (285) all won by decision. Mundorf down 3-1 in the match, pulled off a reversal, tacked on three back points to defeat Max Chapman, 6-3, and Atlantic/CAM opened up a 16-0 lead. Aiden Smith (106) added a 9-2 major decision to the streak, and the Trojans led 19-0.
The Panthers stopped the run with two straight falls and closed the gap to 19-12. Christian Ahrens (113), pinned Josh Hass, and Lincoln Keeler (120), won by fall over Cruz Weaver, and Creston tightened Atlantic/CAM’s lead to 19-12.
Ethan Follman (126) of Atlantic/CAM downed Brandon Briley, 9-2, and extended the Trojans lead to 22-12. Easton O’Brien (132) added to the lead with a decision over Trey Chestnut of Creston and pushed the Trojan’s lead to 25-12., with four matches left to go.
The Panthers Austin Evans (138) won by an 18-2 tech fall over Dante Hedrington of Atlantic/CAM, and the Panthers crept closer 25-17. Triston Barncastle (145) followed with a 5-1 decision over Tanner O’Brien. But, Brian South (152) of Atlantic/CAM came from a 2-0 deficit in the first period and defeated Briley Hayes by an 11-3, major decision to move the score to 29-20 and seal the dual for Atlantic/CAM with one match to go.
