(Atlantic) A trial date has been scheduled for former Atlantic High School employee Jesse McCann on charges filed by the Atlantic Police Department.
According to court records, McCann has pleaded not guilty to charges of Grooming and Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee. His trial is scheduled to begin September 29 at 9:30 a.m. An arraignment is set for July 27, followed by a pretrial conference on August 31.
The Atlantic Police Department reported that it received a complaint on January 19, 2026, alleging inappropriate behavior by an employee of the Atlantic Community School District. According to the complaint, McCann engaged in inappropriate contact, communication, and interactions with female students.
McCann is also facing a separate criminal case filed by the Stuart Police Department. Court records show he has entered a written plea of not guilty to charge of Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee filed in May.
Those charges stem from allegations involving inappropriate conduct with a juvenile student that allegedly occurred about 10 years ago while McCann was employed by the West Central Valley Community School District. A pretrial conference in that case is scheduled for July 13 at 9:30 a.m.
